The Pharmacy is the heart of every Shoppers Drug Mart store; each store is owned and operated by a licensed pharmacist.  Pharmacists are university-educated front line health care providers who are an integral part of the community health care team.

Together with a team of pharmacy technicians, your Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacist is dedicated to making a difference to the health and well-being of Canadians.  With Shoppers Drug Mart’s support, you are guided through the essential facts of your medication conveniently, consistently and comprehensively.

Prescription Services

Your time is precious, and like so many people today, you probably have a hundred things on the go. We respect that, so we created a group of services designed to make it more convenient for you to renew and pick up your prescriptions.

These services include:

Automated prescription refill service
Our automated prescription refill service lets you conveniently renew your prescriptions by phone or online.

Phone
To refill your prescriptions by phone, simply call Shoppers Drug Mart® and press “1” for pharmacy services. Then press “1” again for our automated prescription refill service.

Online
To renew your prescriptions online, click on the Refill your prescription link below and simply follow the instructions provided.  You can also sign up to receive automatic email reminders so you know when your next refill is due.

Your personal information is kept secure and protected at all times and only your Pharmacist can access it.

In-store pager
When you visit a Shoppers Drug Mart to fill your prescriptions, you’ll be given an in-store pager. It will alert you when your prescriptions are ready, so you don’t have to spend time waiting.

My File

A portable record of your medication history that’s updated with each prescription.

It’s not always easy to remember what prescriptions you’ve been taking. That’s why we created My File, a comprehensive list of your 20 previous medications. It’s a portable record of your medication history that’s updated with each prescription.

My File can help:

  • Ensure you get the right medical advice and that you have enough refills by sharing My File with your doctor or other health care professionals
  • Share your medication information with those who need to know by giving My File to your loved ones or caregiver
  • If you have forgotten your medications while traveling My File will make it easier for you to get the medications you need

Pharma Track

More relevant information, more often about your medication and health condition.

Being diagnosed with an illness can leave you feeling like you’re not in control. Learning more about your condition can help put you back in control. Pharma Track is a tool that gives you more information about your medications and health condition. It not only provides essential facts about the medication you’re using, but also provides relevant and timely health information to help guide you throughout your medical journey.

A Guide to Reimbursement

This web site describes all of the drug plans available to Canadians – private insurance plans, provincial/ territorial drug benefit programs, federal drug plans. It tells you who is eligible for each plan, which medications are covered by each drug plan on their regular formulary, and for medications that are not listed on the plan formulary, the web site will inform you as to whether the drug plan has an ‘exception drug’ or ‘special authorization’ mechanism through which your physician may request coverage of the unlisted medication.

Rx Check

A checklist of the work completed by your pharmacist to ensure accuracy and safety of your medications.

Every prescription is checked using the following list:

  • Confirmed your information and medical history, including any possible allergies.
  • Checked to make sure that your prescription is both accurate and complete and that your medication, its dose, quantity and directions are right for you.
  • Checked for any potential problems with your prescription, such as:
    • Interactions with other medications
    • Allergies and contraindications to the medication prescribed
    • Duplication of therapy
  • If needed, worked with your doctor to resolve any of the above.
  • Provided counseling to explain the optimal use of your medication, plus additional storage and administration instructions.
  • May have provided information on your medical condition to help you better manage your therapy.
Because we take care, your pharmacist may follow up with a telephone call to ensure continued proper and safe use of your medication. In some instances, we may have also contacted your insurance company on your behalf to help resolve any prescription coverage issues.

Med-Organizer Packs:

Our Med-Organizer Packs are designed to help make it easier to manage regular medications and ensure they are taken properly.  It’s medication made simple for those taking 3 or more prescriptions.
