In cities and towns across Canada, thousands of local organizations are doing important, even life-saving work for the women who live in their communities.
They range from formal institutions like hospitals and foundations, to hospices, health support networks, shelters, groups offering mental health support and many more. Their work is grassroots, one-on-one, and appreciated beyond words by the communities they serve. Yet many go overlooked when it comes time to seek the funding they need to continue their essential role as part of a vibrant, caring community.
Through the Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life campaign, our customers and employees can make sure this priceless work keeps going, and growing.
National in scope yet locally-based, our annual Tree of Life campaign gives our customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to organizations that make a difference to women’s health in their own communities. In fact, their generosity and participation keeps this tree alive and growing higher every year. Over the last 10 years, Tree of Life has raised over $17 Million, with 426 local women’s health organizations supported in 2011 alone. Each store’s Associate-owner selects a local women’s health charity deemed especially in need of assistance.
The 2011 Tree of Life Campaign
The 2011 Tree of Life campaign ran in your community September 17 to October 14 and raised $2.2M with the support of our customers and Store Teams. Thank you to all that participated. The campaign encourages customers to purchase and personalize their own paper “leaf” for $1, “butterfly” for $5 or “cardinal” for $50. Each piece is then displayed on a “tree” branch on the “Tree of Life” in the store. 100% of all proceeds go directly to the women’s health charity organization that was chosen by the Associate-owner of that particular store.
