Women’s cancers are a huge threat—and demand an equally powerful response.

One in six Canadian women will be diagnosed with a women’s cancer in their lifetime. These cancers include breast, ovarian, cervical, endometrial/uterine, vaginal, vulvar and fallopian tube cancers. Statistics show that in 2013 alone, 33,450 Canadian women were diagnosed with a women’s cancer and 7,970 died from the disease. (Source: Canadian Cancer Society: Canadian Cancer Statistics 2013.)

In 2003, the Weekend to End Breast Cancer was launched, pitting hundreds of determined walkers against a deadly foe. Since then, walkers nationwide have walked, hollered, laughed and cried their way to raising more than $246 million for research that’s already lead to exciting results.

Since 2004, Team Shoppers Drug Mart has participated in the walk. And in 2010, we stepped up to play a leading role.

We’ve extended the power of Canada’s biggest difference-making endeavor, The Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Breast Cancer, to all women’s cancers.

Shoppers Drug Mart is now the title sponsor for The Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women’s Cancers, whose mandate now includes six cancers. Over two different weekends, thousands of courageous people will be walking to raise money and awareness in Montreal and Toronto. In addition to our title sponsorship, we are challenging our many business associates nationwide to walk the walk, and rallying our Store Teams to the cause—assembling an army of over 800 walkers and volunteers to raise more money than ever before. In 2013 alone, Team Shoppers Drug Mart raised more than $950 thousand in the battle to end all women's cancers.
