1. Create some alone time
If you’re more familiar with kid talk than the language of love these days, try scheduling regular alone time with your partner, even if it’s just for a quiet cuddle.
2. Go on a date
Let a trusted friend babysit while the two of you sneak off for coffee, lunch or even a walk. “It’s not about having an elaborate weekend away,” says Lea Tufford, a marriage and family therapist in Toronto. “It’s about focusing on each other and having conversations about your relationship, friends, current events or the next vacation you want to take together — anything that relates to you as a couple.”
3. Be affectionate
Make the effort to touch your partner more often. Even if it’s just a quick pat, a hug, a kiss, or a shoulder massage in passing, it will help re-establish that warm connection you may have been missing.
4. Strive for balance
Though it’s natural for a couple’s roles as parents to overshadow their roles as lovers for a while, it’s in your best interest to find a balance between the two, says Tufford.
