Refresh Your Beauty Routine With Monochromatic Makeup
Get back to basics this spring and keep your makeup simple and fresh with a harmonious colour palette and lots of blending.
With spring just around the corner, it’s a great time to refresh your makeup look. One of the best ways to create a bold yet low maintenance look is to go monochromatic. Opting for eye, lip and cheek shades in the same colour family feels effortlessly polished and draws attention to all of your lovely features. The key to this harmonious look is making sure there are no harsh lines — proper blending and layering makes all the difference. Here’s how to get the look.
1. Prep your base
To prepare the skin for makeup, soak a cotton pad with Pixi Hydrating Milk Tonic and sweep it all over your face. For exceptional dewiness, moisturize with Burt’s Bees Truly Glowing Gel Cream and add a dab of e.l.f. Ride or Die Lip Balm in “Mighty Mint”.
2. Prime and conceal

4. Get peachy
Now it's time to choose similar shades of pink or peach that you’ll use on the eyes, lips and cheeks. For a pretty base of colour on the face, apply Burt’s Bees Cream Blush onto the apples of the cheeks, blending up toward the temples for a lifting effect.
5. Create subtle definition
Using L’Oréal Paris Infallible Liner, draw along the upper lash line and in between lashes. The effect should be subtle: this is to give the eyes definition, while still allowing the shadow colours to be the center of attention.
6. Add a wash of colour

Focus the colour on the center of the eyelids, blending up and out towards the crease. Next, choose a medium brown shade and sweep it along the lower lash line for shape and definition.
7. Volumize those lashes

8. Play up your blush

9. Finish with a lip
