BEAUTY PREP SCHOOL: CLUMPY LASHES

Who knew clumpy lashes could be this chic? Once upon a time, clumpy lashes were considered a big beauty faux pas. And then along came fall runway shows Jason Wu making a case for how good they could look.
Lucky for you, the latest mascara formulas promise denser, thicker lashes. CoverGirl Plumpify blastPRO by Lashblast, Annabelle Outlash Mascara By Bigshow and L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara are all about giving you those runway-inspired statement lashes that you can make work IRL.
There is, of course, a right way and a wrong way to do clumpy lashes. Forget everything you’ve learned about creating a perfect, fanned out fringe. Start by applying your mascara like you usually would by holding the wand horizontally and coating every lash from roots to ends. Then, turn the wand vertically and wiggle it upwards, grouping lashes together.
Because it’s all about being deliberately messy, the clumpy lash look is very forgiving. If you make a mistake, that’s okay! If you’ve overdone it with product, go in with a clean brow comb and remove excess product. Have a smudge situation? Use a cotton swab to clean up any mistakes.
The kind of makeup you pair with your statement-making fringe is just as important as your lashes themselves. Since your lashes are the star, you want to make sure your makeup complements them. If you’re going for a day look, keep the rest of your makeup soft and neutral. Clean skin, groomed brows and a swipe of clear or light pink gloss is all you need to make the look pop. If you want to add more drama for night, go with a deep red gloss or lipstick. You can even tightline your upper lash line with black liner to up the dramatic factor.Do you need any more convincing? We dare you to go for bigger, bolder lashes!
