BODY STROBING: THE NEW MAKEUP TREND YOU NEED TO KNOW
News flash! Strobing is no longer reserved just for your face!
It was only a matter of time before the makeup technique we initially told you all about—the one that uses shimmery creams to crank up a healthy complexion—migrated down the body. Not only are we seeing it pop up on the limbs of several celebrities (check out Oscar winner Alicia Vikander’s sun-kissed shoulders and Kate Upton’s glowing gams for proof), but the spring runways were awash with models strutting out with an ultra-glossy, superhuman sheen across their shins, clavicles and collarbones.
Sure, body shimmer has been around forever, but suddenly it has taken a turn for the more obvious. Why? Infusing a megawatt dose of highlighter on the legs, arms and décolleté gives the illusion of looking more taut and toned, not to mention adding the right touch of sex appeal to pretty much anything you’re wearing.
So just before we enter a season of slip-dresses, denim cut-offs and off-the-shoulder tops, we suggest you strobe your body with the following steps:
Blend a cream highlighter (we’re big fans of Smashbox’s L.A. Lights in Hollywood & Highlight) where light naturally hits your skin—think your shoulders, décolleté and neck bone area. You can also use a luminous tinted moisturizer instead of a cream for a more subdued shimmer. Then, grab a fan brush and lightly dust an illuminating powder over top (Shiseido’s Smk Translucent Loose Powder is perfect for all skin tones)—and prepare for the onslaught of compliments on your supernatural skin.
