ENHANCE YOUR LOOK WITH SCENT
Christian Dior once said: Perfume is a mark of female identity and the final touch of her style. And he was certainly on to something.
While perusing your favourite street style blog can help you pull together a killer outfit, there is one thing that you can't see through your computer screen, what fragrance the woman is wearing. And that's a good thing.
Scent can be mysterious, uplifting and refreshing. And often all at the same time. You really can be who you want to be on any given day based on your favourite fragrance.
Looking to attract a certain someone? Grab a perfume with notes of vanilla, musk or patchouli. Want to invigorate yourself and those around you? Citrus notes (think grapefruit, orange or lemon) will work to bring a light, fresh scent to the air. And if confidence and sophistication is your goal (heading to an interview perhaps?), look for iris, saffron and anise to spice up your aura.
A true finishing touch, your daily spritz will not only change your mood, but it will complete your ensemble.
Tips & Tricks
Layering scents (think body wash, lotion and perfume from the same fragrance) is perfect for die-hards who do not have sensitive noses. But if you're looking to be a bit more subtle (i.e. you really want to bring someone in close!), go for a fragrant oil from your favourite brand, or simply apply one spritz to the inside of one wrist, and dab on your favourite pulse points.
To make your perfume last all day (or all night), dab a bit of the scent on these keys areas: behind your ear lobes, along your collar bone and down your décolletage, behind your knees and the inside your elbows, and in your belly button (especially if you're sporting a bikini). Also of note: never rub a fragrance, gently dab it. Rubbing can break down the juice.
Did you know?
Fragrances have a shelf life. Generally speaking, you could get away with keeping a scent for three to five years. But if stored properly out of direct sunlight and at room temperature or even in the fridge some eaus are like wine and can last a little longer. The best test? If the juice has changed colour or the scent seems a little off, itís time to toss.
