THE CAT-EYE YOU NEED TO TRY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
Look at your calendar right now. (Go ahead—we’ll wait.) It’s packed with holiday parties, right? And you’re starting to worry you don’t have enough sparkly dresses or smoky eye ideas, right? Truly, there are only so many times a person can try the same look before wanting to explore something new and daring!
So, we’re offering up some makeup roads less traveled with a look from Emanuel Ungaro’s fall/winter runway show that we’re calling feline shine. The look marries two trends with major staying power—glitter and graphic liner—and then forms them into one fabulous festive cat-eye. The result? A holiday-ready, glam-rock look that can work way beyond the weeks ahead. To take your cat-eye up a notch, follow these steps:
1) After priming the lid, apply an evergreen eyeshadow (‘tis the season, after all) with a creamy satin finish starting from the inner corner of the eye and sweeping upwards. Try Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash shadow duo in Desert Dazzle, which has a complementary gold glitter on the other end to layer on top. Be sure to dab (not drag) the sparkle for more precise placement and major shine.
2) With a black liquid liner, trace the shape of your eye starting from just above the inner corners, along the crease, and then extending past the outer corner to form an exaggerated wing. Do the same under the lower lashes making sure to apply a lighter touch at each end to create a fine-edged point. Try the Essence Eyeliner Pen.
3) With a flat brush, press a matte black shadow (try Quo’s Eyeshadow Palette in Plum Perfect) onto the centre of the lid and blend out toward the crease and fill in the feline flick. Finish with your favourite mascara and voila, you’re instantly party ready.
