TRENDING: METALLIC MAKEUP
Hits of sparkle and shine were all over the spring/summer runways, as makeup artists adorned eyes with gleaming gold and silver shadows. While designers embraced a “more-is-more” approach was seen on the runways, a subdued take on the trend looks best for wearing it in real life. Below, we’ve compiled some pro tips to enhance your summer glow with metallic makeup.
Choose your tone.
Everyone can wear metallic shades, but some tones flatter more than others, says celebrity makeup artist Andrea Claire. Bronze tends to be universally flattering, while gold and silver can be a little tricky when it comes to matching to your skin tone. “Think gold for warm skin tones and silver for cool skin tones,” says Claire.
How to wear it.
A simple swipe of silver, bronze or copper shadow over the eyelids is a super-easy way to nail the look, and also looks great with a tan. For a new take on the cat eye, try an opaque metallic liner and apply to the lash line, either on its own or layered over basic black for extra shine. For an overall glow, mix some liquid luminizer into your foundation, which will catch the light and flatter bronzed skin.
Don’t forget the lips.
Wearing metallic shades on the lips is super-flattering, too. Claire recommends patting on a rose-gold or copper shadow to the centre of your lips to take your lip colour to the next level, or wearing a full-on statement shade. “A true metallic lip can be very chic with summer tans,” says Claire.
