Are there certain foods that will boost my immune system to prevent colds?

The truth is, there isn’t one particular food that can protect you from developing a cold. Instead, you're better off to focus on eating a variety of whole foods, to maximise the different nutrients your body is getting. Although vegetables and fruit often come first to mind, and they definitely contain many essential vitamins and minerals that support our immune system, focusing on balancing your plate with whole grains and protein foods, as well, will also help to ensure that you’re getting the variety of nutrients that your immune system needs to function. Selenium, for example, is a mineral that is commonly found in seafood, like shrimp, crabs, mussels, and oysters, and has also been found to play a role in supporting a healthy immune system.
