BOLD RUSH: ACHIEVE SPRING'S EYE-CATCHING MAKEUP LOOK IN FOUR STEPS

Hide your neutrals this spring-okay, for a day at least-because there's a new palette in town that's as playful as it is gorgeous. Think Yves Klein blue (seen at Marni) or hot fuchsia (seen at Valentino), or even Kelly green and poppin' orange too. A bold colourful eye is bringing the heat.

Spring into the new season with a warmer look that's trendy, fresh, and powerful for your stare. To master this look, all you'll need are these four easy steps.

Good to know: Keep the rest of your face quite clean and perfect your base, especially since a super-saturated eye look can bring out any discolouration in your complexion. (For the same reason, use concealer to counter a blue-ish tinge under eyes and a translucent powder to set.) Blush argues with your statement eye as well, so settle on a believable contour with a touch of highlight to add life to your face. Finish with a matte, neutral lip.

Step 1: Start with an eye shadow primer to ensure your pop of eye colour goes on nice and opaque, since these formulas provide a solid, long-wear base for pigment to adhere to nicely.

Step 2: Choose a bold poppy eyeshadow hue to cover your entire lid, starting with the most colour saturation in the centre of the eyelid closest to the lash line, and continuing up to your crease and brow bone. Carry the bold shade underneath your lower lash line as well to really make the colour sing.

Step 3: Keep your bold eye looking more fresh than fierce by forgoing eyeliner (just this once!). Instead, frame your poppy shade with loads of volumizing mascara. Layer up both your top and bottom lashes, lifting your eyelid with your finger to get to the roots as you brush through with the wand. Afterwards, comb through any clumps to maintain the clean, overall esthetic.

Step 4: Groom brows with a tinted mousse or powder formula so they're nicely filled in and look natural. Brush upward and outward to open up the eye area, giving all the attention to your wow-coloured lids.
