Try this geometric nail look for your next manicure

Skip the salon and achieve the perfect fall manicure with this fun nail art tutorial.

Forgo the all-things-pumpkin fall colour palette this season and give your nails an edge with this unexpected cool-toned geometric look that’s surprisingly simple to recreate. With a little prep work, mastering this DIY design is an easy way to add flair to your everyday look.

Step 1: Prep and shape
A lasting manicure begins with proper nail prep. First, clip your nails with the Revlon Nail Clippers. With a contoured handle and lever-action blade, it’s easy to trim your nails to an even length for a crisp, polished look. Next, use the Revlon Shape'n'Buff to smooth away snags and create your desired shape, whether that’s round, squoval or square. Once the nail is shaped, use one of the four buffing surfaces to get a smooth, shiny finish. Then, take the double-ended Quo Beauty Cuticle Pusher and gently push the cuticles back, using the contoured end to tidy up edges.

Step 2: Set your base
Before you apply your base coat, be sure to wipe off any oil or debris with a lint-free nail wipe and a drop of acetone or oil-free nail polish remover. Once the nail is nice and clean, apply a thin layer of Quo Beauty Breathable Base & Top Coat to all ten nails. The permeable formula allows air and water-vapour to pass through to keep your nails healthy. Tip: In order to get a salon-quality finish, be patient! Allow each coat to dry for two to three minutes before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Go green
Apply a thin, even coat of Quo Beauty Breathable Nail Colour & Treatment in “Mind Rewind” to each nail, carefully moving the brush from cuticle to tip. Wait for the first coat to dry before applying a second layer of polish over top, remembering to always apply thin layers to avoid lengthy dry times and potential smudging. Allow to dry.

Step 4: Outline your shape
Add a few drops of Quo Beauty Breathable Nail Colour & Treatment in “La La Lavender” to a piece of foil and dip a thin striper brush into a tiny amount of the polish. To create your outline, start by drawing one line along the side of your nail, moving down towards the tip. About five millimeters over, add another line, joining them with a midway line to give your rectangle a flat top. Repeat this on all ten nails.

Step 5: Fill in your design
Using the brush included with your lavender polish, fill in the inside of your rectangles by running the brush down the centre of the shape: The Quo Beauty Breathable Nail Colour & Treatment brush is the perfect size for this design. Feel free to express your inner artist here — you can mix and match a variety of colours as you please.

Step 6: Correct imperfections
When all the rectangles are filled in, take a look and see if there are any areas or edges that are uneven. If needed, use your striper brush with a little polish to clean up wonky lines and get a professional-looking final result.

Step 7: Set the look
Once your nails are dry, seal in your hard work and extend the life of your manicure with the shine-enhancing Quo Beauty Breathable Base & Top Coat. Now, sit back and admire the final result.
