What is in a Naloxone Kit?
Naloxone Kits include Naloxone and the supplies and information you, a family member or friend, need to know in terms of how and when to use it.

Who should get a Naloxone Kit?
An opioid overdose can happen to anyone taking an opioid. If you, a family member or friend are taking an opioid, including prescription opioids, get a Naloxone Kit. This is particularly important if there are children in the household.

Always call 911 immediately
If you are ever with someone who has overdosed always dial 911. Follow their instructions and administer Naloxone as outlined within the Naloxone Kit.

An overdose can happen to anyone taking an opioid.
Have a Naloxone Kit on hand. Don’t forget to inform a family member, friend or other person who may be able to assist in the event of overdose.

How to stay safe when taking opioid prescription medications:
• Do not drink alcohol
• Do not start any new medications without talking to your Pharmacist or a medical health professional first
• Do not share medications
• Store medications in a safe and secure place, away from the reach of children
• Take your medications exactly as prescribed. If you have questions, ask your Pharmacist or a medical health professional.
• Return any unneeded opioids to the pharmacy – do not store them at home indefinitely.

Opioids*
Opioids are drugs with pain relieving properties that are used primarily to treat pain. Opioids can also induce euphoria (feeling high), which gives them the potential to be used improperly.

Opioids can be prescribed medications:
• codeine
• fentanyl
• morphine
• oxycodone
• hydromorphone
• medical heroin
• methadone
• buprenorphine
